Genre: Mystery narrative adventure
State: Pre-production
Abanto, adj. Said of a bull: fearful or prone to fear.

Sofía, the daughter of a torero she hasn’t seen in ten years, returns to her old house in a remote Spanish village in search of the divorce papers her father never signed.
As she delves into what remains of her inheritance, she finds not only dust and decay - a strange and mysterious presence of a bull surprise her and asks for her help: “Your father has been murdered.”
By exploring her father’s old memories, she realizes that not everything she was told was true. She must question morality, discuss with friends and foes, and uncover who killed Ramón, her father.

Abanto combines narrative adventure, decision-making, and cards to tell a universal story about the past through humor, magical realism, and a washed-up torero who's gone completely off the rails.
In Spain, we’re known for shouting, and we love to argue about anything: Discuss! Use your cards as arguments and prove you were born to be right.
Don’t be fooled by appearances, winning in Abanto isn’t always a victory. Just like in real life, winning an argument might ruin your friendship with your childhood friend, annoy your lover and make them tell your wife about your affair, or even make your cousin hate you enough to stab you in the back.

COMING SOON...

5.10.2025.
From the very beginning, we’ve embraced risk: a narrative adventure set in Spain…? Let’s be honest, it doesn’t seem to have the formula to be the next Hollow Knight… But one thing we can be sure of: it’s the kind of game we would want to play ourselves (aside from games like Hollow Knight, of course), and honestly, we don’t think we’re too far off from what the audience might enjoy.
For a long time, we’ve noticed that video games have rarely focused on telling intimate, cultural stories. Here in Spain, we tend to look outside our territory for interesting settings and stories, and the truth is, we’re missing out a lot! We decided to go for rawness, to show ourselves as we are, and even delve into moral issues like bullfighting, which remains a major taboo in our country.
From this cocktail of ideas, Abanto was born. It comes from the excitement of creating our first project, from contributing to video games with a fresh story, from sharing our culture with the world, and from having a good time laughing a little at ourselves, which we love.
We are deeply grateful for the trust placed in us by friends and family who have supported us, especially Hector Ferrer-Vidal, who helped us design and publish this beautiful website, Alex Soma, who created an illustration we couldn’t be more thankful for, Ariadna Blas helping us localize the build into English, Núria Poveda who’s structured both the script and our heads, and Marina Picado for enduring long sessions of meetings with their mandatory share of typical spanish shouting.
After a long year of work, we’ve reached a solid first milestone. We have our first playable BUILD, a portion that showcases the tone, setting, gameplay, and essence of what Abanto could become.
Currently, we find ourselves in pre-production, looking for a publisher and investment, while working on polishing the game’s core mechanics. We’re also completing the writing for the final chapters of the story so the script is fully closed, and from there, we can map out all the work that lies ahead.
Why seek funding instead of continuing on the path we’re currently on? Simply put, we want to bring Abanto to the best possible state it can reach. Currently, we both have side jobs and dedicate our free time to the project. That’s why, in our current situation, we can’t dedicate 100% of our time and effort to the project, which we would love to do. The project will take as long as it needs, but we want to keep making games after Abanto, and we hope this project serves as a springboard to continue doing what we love: video games.
We hope we’ve honestly conveyed what this project means to us and what we want it to become in the future.
